Deaf Access 35th Anniversary Celebration – Friday October 25, 2019

On Friday October 25th, Deaf Access staff, friends, family and members of the community at large, came together for our 35th Anniversary Celebration. With a beautiful view of the changing colours of the landscape of the Barrie Golf and Country club, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast, reacquainted ourselves with old friends and welcomed some new ones. The morning’s event celebrated 35 years of programs and services promoting and facilitating equitable access to all aspects of life for Deaf and hard of hearing people living and vacationing throughout Simcoe County and Muskoka.

The day began with a walk down memory lane by Deaf Access staff and was followed by an inspiring and heartfelt presentation by former staff member Rose Etheridge that helped us remember and appreciate that it takes the contribution of many to positively shape the lives of those around us and the hearts of many to lift each other up when challenges arise. We were then delighted by a side-splitting interactive mime performance and an astonishing magic show that had us on the edge of our seats. Before closing the morning’s festivities a collective word of sincere thanks was said to all of the wonderful volunteers and staff that have wholeheartedly given of their time, energy, expertise and creativity that has enabled us to accomplish all that we have over the last 35 years.

Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate with us!
